Bangladeshi dancer Rimy gets "Nritya Manakamana Shreemani Sanan" award

Rimy Rafiq, a Bangladeshi classical Bharatanatyam dancer, was awarded the "Nritya Manakamana Shreemani Sanan" plaque of honor in the '10 International Dance and Music Festival, Nepal 2024'.

Being the Chief Guest of the festival Nepalese Parliament member Suraj Chandra Lamichanee and Honorary guest notable social worker of Nepal Jagdish Bhetwal handovered the award to Rimy Rafiq.

honored'Utkal Yuba Sanskritik Sangha' of Kattak, Odisha hosted this festival at 'Nepal Film Campus', Kathmandu, Nepal on 11-12th May 2024.

General Secretary of the festival organizinghonored team Shiladitya Rath asserted that Rimy Rafiq was honored with this prestigious award for her outstanding performance, extraordinary contribution and excellent service to the promotion, preservation and popularization of the heritage of Indian Classical Dance - Bharatnatyam.

Expressing excitement, Rimy told Tvista that performing on such an international platform is like adding a flock to my wings of dance and I felt honoured as well as excited for this.

"I humbly express my gratitude to my Guru Rachel Perris, Belayat Khan, Sharmista Sarkar, Nirali Thakur, Chandan Thakur and all of my teachers on this success," said Rimy Rafiq.

On this festival, Rimy Rafiq performed a Bharatanatyam dance item, naming Padam, whichnamed is choreographed from prominent poet Jayadeva's Gita Gobinda's Astapadi. She herself choreographed this with the guidance of Sree Chandan Thakur and Nirali Thakur.

Besides, participants from different countries around the world including Nepal, India, and Mauritius took part in this festival.
