The coordinators of the Students Movement Against Discrimination, a platform of quota reform movement, have announced to hold country-wide demonstrations and protest procession programme on Monday afternoon.
A press release, singed by Abdul Kader, the coordinator of the platform confirmed the matter at around 11.55 pm on Sunday.
Earlier on the same night, another six coordinators of the student platform announced the withdrawal of all programmes in a written and video statement saying that the the government met its main demands, reports BSS.
Coordinators Md Nahid Islam, Md Sarjis Alam, Hasnat Abdullah, Md Abu Baker Mazumder, Asif Mahmud and Nusrat Tabassum signed the statement.
Md Nahid Islam read out the written statement saying that "Many (people including students) were unexpectedly injured and killed in the quota reform movement and the situation created centering the movement."
Besides, many violent incidents including arson attacks in the state institutions took place, this coordinator said, adding, "We strongly condemn all these untoward incidents and demand fair investigation and speedy trial over the incidents".
"Our main demand was the logical reform of the quota which the government has already met," they added.
The coordinators called upon the government to reopen educational institutions soon to ensure a congenial atmosphere for education.
In a press release, however, rest of the coordinators of the platform abducted the announcement terming the statement as "forcefully and scripted".
"We strongly condemn and protest the forcefully scripted statement by the coordinators at gunpoint in the DB office by denouncing the sacrifice of hundreds of martyrs who were killed in firing by the law enforcement agencies and in the attack of Chhatra League," reads the press release.
"We have been, are and will remain steadfast in our demands," the release added.
They also announced to stage demonstration program and protest rally of students across the country today.
